Wanderer
Often it so happens that we wish to run away from the hustle-bustle of our everyday lives. And that is what i exactly felt a few days back. I had this deep feeling within me to run away somewhere far off, outside the city limits. So i decided to take a hike, something i had never done in the past.
The trek was at a fort called Kalavanti which is near Panvel. Kalavanti is situated high above the mountains. I was very excited to go about my first hiking adventure and i was to go with a group of 13 people. We started off our trek late in the night. The weather was absolutely perfect, it was cool and breezy. Being a full moon night there was ample light and we could see even in the darkness of the forest. I started off with an aplomb but little did i know what was in store for me.
We started the climb and in the beginning i did not find it too difficult i could walk easily on the slope. It was then when we reached a considerable height and had to climb a steep surface that my heart was in my mouth! We literally had to climb like spiderman :) making sure that we hold on to rocks and step on firm ground before going further. One slip and down you go. For others it seemed easy because they were quite accustomed to hiking but for a new bee like me, every step i took made my heart beat faster and faster. I never knew i had vertigo! and this is something i realized after reaching a height of almost 1,000 feet! i was drenched in sweat, i needed constant reassurances by my team mates, who supported me throughout :) It was due to their help that i could make the climb, their words, their pat on back, every little thing counted, What i found amusing is that for a girl like me, who is otherwise very strong, i was totally out of control, i couldn't look below, as the view, though beautiful, felt frightening to me and i couldn't even look above, made me nauseous to think that i had to climb further!
Finally we did make it to the top and i hugged my friend tight since it was not possible without his help. I was so proud that i scaled a height of 2012 feet. It sure was a mighty one for me. And the view! oh it was so beautiful. i could see the entire city beaming with neon lights. It was a magical experience for me. Truly i had overcome my fears and discovered new found love.

ReplyDeleteThe best things anyone should experience,
ReplyDelete1, the feeling when you put the whole world under your feet... The feeling when get top of the mountains, where there is no more to climb. Where you get 360 degree view. Were you don't hear any noises other than sounds of nature.
2, forgetting ourselves in silence of deep blue water. Where you don't get noticed by others. Where you can swim like a fish with millions of fishes.
