Ethereal Waters

Image
Last week, along with my cousin i had been to a small village called Bhivpuri. She wanted to show me the place since she has her college there and insisted that its beautiful. Since i had an off we made the plan impromptu and set off. Its quite close to Mumbai, so we went by train. It was roughly a 2 hour journey from Mumbai. On reaching there I saw to my own eyes just how green that place was. It was so cooling to the eyes. I couldn't take my eyes off the nature around. Bhivpuri is famous waterfalls, and though its only the beginning of the monsoon, we could already see the waterfalls flowing freely among the mountains. I couldn't wait to reach there :) The mountains are close to the station so we walked, and trust me you wont feel even a bit tired. Its a place so heavenly that you would want to wander aimlessly. The trek in itself is not at all difficult. Its very easy and it was filled with people of all ages when i had been. My little cousin was initially cr...

Back from the Beach

Image
The konkan region in Maharashtra has got some lovely beaches. I visited Kundkeshwar beach in the Devgad region which is famous as being the mango capital. Its a lovely village lined up with coconut plantations along the beach. It has a Shiv temple right on the shore of the beach. The beach is untouched and clean and serene. Reaching there wasn't as easy as we had thought. It took us a grueling journey of 12 hours by train just to get there. But anyways me and my friends had loads of fun even traveling in the general compartment that we went by! We traveled all night to reach our destination next noon. We reached there in the afternoon and we were pretty worn out due to all the traveling. Still the smell of sea water took away all the weariness! We had a delicious meal of fish thali which was yummy :) I always insist on having the local food as it gives us an insight of the local cuisine. And this being a beach, served some finger lickin fish like halwa, prawns wi...

Of Ups and Downs

The two and a half years in Jet Airways have gone in a jiffy. I do not quite know whether i am happy or not, lets just say i am not quite elated. Working in an organization is not the same as being in college, there are increased responsibilities. Anyways i did have a few "happy" moments in Jet Airways, which has taught whatever little i know about my work. Here are my few unforgettable moments... This is me and my colleagues at our favorite eatery at the domestic airport called 'Balaji'. We have spent countless nights here eating our favorite dosas from paper dosa to spring dosa, we've had it all!    That's spring dosa, looks yummy right? tastes yummier ;)  This ones Makai cheese balls...hmmm its so tasty melts in your mouth :)  That's the regular dosa and upma, after the night shifts we used to be so damn tired. Having breakfast at Balaji's had become a routine.  Me and my Bestie diggi...

Mumbai Monsoons

Image
Mumbai takes a completely new look during the rains. The rain makes the trees look greener and brighter, enhancing the beauty of the city. It washes off the dirt, dust making the city looking cleaner and greener.. Ever visited Juhu beach or the Marine drive during the showers? oh its a sight so breath-taking, no wonder its flooded with couples during the rains. Its the favorite season of the people in Mumbai.  My memories of monsoons are very happy. It marked the beginning of the schools in Mumbai, which meant new fresh smelling books, uniform and rain wear. And schools meant meeting old friends again, with loads of new things to talk about! When it rains, i feel so one with it. Its as if the rain really does understand my pain, and it cries with me, for me. The rain takes away all my sorrow cleansing my body, my soul and my heart. Each drop of rain feels so pure and so cold, it gives me a different feeling altogether. I must have spent countless evening...

Wanderer

Often it so happens that we wish to run away from the hustle-bustle of our everyday lives. And that is what i exactly felt a few days back. I had this deep feeling within me to run away somewhere far off, outside the city limits. So i decided to take a hike, something i had never done in the past. The trek was at a fort called Kalavanti which is near Panvel. Kalavanti is situated high above the mountains. I was very excited to go about my first hiking adventure and i was to go with a group of 13 people. We started off our trek late in the night. The weather was absolutely perfect, it was cool and breezy. Being a full moon night there was ample light and we could see even in the darkness of the forest. I started off with an aplomb but little did i know what was in store for me. We started the climb and in the beginning i did not find it too difficult i could walk easily on the slope. It was then when we reached a considerable height and had to climb a steep surfac...

A Cautionary Tale

Image
Vanessa's and Vivan's marriage has turned out to be one of utter disgust. Day after day it became impossible for her to live in that house. With fights getting more common and her mother-in-law interfering more than ever in her daily life. From the moment she got up to the moment she lied down at night, every lil of her had become a big problem to her MIL and her son. Vivan was nothing but an overgrown child. His ways his behavior was that of a 5 year old. It is an un-said rule in any relationship that whatever happens between a couple must remain between the couple, but well that rule was non- existent in their relation. Whatever little things happened between them, fell directly to his mothers ears. You don’t expect this from a 28 year old, do u? His mother had so much to complain about Vanessa that she kept yelling her for no apparent reason. The moment she got up, the expression on her MIL's face gave her jitters. The moment her MIL opened her mouth was only and ...

His Birthday

Image
Vivan's birthday was exactly a week after  their  engagement. Even after the engagement, they didn't  speak as much as they ought to. She  couldn't  say that she was happy about the whole deal because Vivan was light years away from her Perfect man. Nothing had happened the way she had imagined. Even after the engagement they lived in two different universes. They did not talk. They did not even message each other. She had always thought her life partner would be someone who would be mature, caring and loving. Vivan was none. Each passing day made her feel as if she was getting deeper into a shit, a quicksand. Deep down she was into depression. A week later she decided to put things into perspective and to ask directly what the matter was. She spoke about this with her mom and her mom said she was just thinking over the top. But she was adamant. She wanted to clear things. If he  wasn't  ready for this marriage, she wanted to break up as soon as...
