Back from the Beach

The konkan region in Maharashtra has got some lovely beaches. I visited Kundkeshwar beach in the Devgad region which is famous as being the mango capital. Its a lovely village lined up with coconut plantations along the beach. It has a Shiv temple right on the shore of the beach. The beach is untouched and clean and serene.

Reaching there wasn't as easy as we had thought. It took us a grueling journey of 12 hours by train just to get there. But anyways me and my friends had loads of fun even traveling in the general compartment that we went by! We traveled all night to reach our destination next noon.

We reached there in the afternoon and we were pretty worn out due to all the traveling. Still the smell of sea water took away all the weariness! We had a delicious meal of fish thali which was yummy :) I always insist on having the local food as it gives us an insight of the local cuisine. And this being a beach, served some finger lickin fish like halwa, prawns with sol kadhi.

My friend had planned the trip so that we could have a full moon lit night on the beach, and yes the beach looked mesmerizing on that very full moon night with the waves crashing and splashing on the beach walls. It was a sight so spectacular that we all were glued. We sat there enjoying every moment, listening to the soothing sound of the waves. I had found my moment, a subtle delight.

We just went there over the weekend and had to return back to Mumbai sooner but this trip was definitely a one of peace and tranquility for me. Nature really does take away all our worries. And a quick trip to a secluded beach is all you need from your mundane daily routine :)
