His Birthday

Vivan's birthday was exactly a week after their engagement. Even after the engagement, they didn't  speak as much as they ought to. She couldn't say that she was happy about the whole deal because Vivan was light years away from her Perfect man. Nothing had happened the way she had imagined. Even after the engagement they lived in two different universes. They did not talk. They did not even message each other. She had always thought her life partner would be someone who would be mature, caring and loving. Vivan was none. Each passing day made her feel as if she was getting deeper into a shit, a quicksand. Deep down she was into depression.

A week later she decided to put things into perspective and to ask directly what the matter was. She spoke about this with her mom and her mom said she was just thinking over the top. But she was adamant. She wanted to clear things. If he wasn't ready for this marriage, she wanted to break up as soon as possible. She left him a small message demanding a break up. After that he must have called about 50 times but she paid no heed. Ever since their marriage had got fixed, she had practically begged before him to meet and every single time he had given her some or the other jazz saying he couldn't make it. This had hurt her real bad.

Anyways so after she ignored his calls, he called up her mom and made sure he pataoed her. Her mom asked him to come home and immediately he came home in the evening. But a word didn't come out of his mouth since the moment he entered the house. Her mom was happy to see him and advised her against breaking the engagement.

There she was, again at the same point where she had started it all.

  1. You have voiced the deep anguish of more than 90% of the girls of India so beautifully. Tragedy is NO ONE has either heard it or understood it.
